Rally For Dengue Awareness
Just like Covid, Dengue was yet another pandemic that spread in 2022. Out of 51,177 who were infected with Dengue, 52 lost their lives. Compared to the previous year, the number of moralities exceeded by 9377 % according to Nepal’s Epidemiology and Disease Control Division. The most affected province was Bagmati where 78.2% were infected and 68.4% lost their lives. Kathmandu, the capital city which lies in Bagmati province, was the most affected city with Dengue.
The most common symptoms of Dengue are high fever, aches and pains in muscle, joint and bone, vomiting etc.
Seeing this alarming situation, We, Nepal Health Trust, felt led to conduct an awareness rally in different localities. Since it is a mosquito-borne disease, during rally, we searched for potholes filled by water and put sodium hydrate to eradicate the growth of mosquitoes. Another important activity we conducted was to give out the awareness leaflets from door to door regarding the precautions and safety measures so as to avoid to be infected by Dengue. We started the rally right from our Pharmacy and went through the route of Lampokhari, Gopikrishna, Chabahil and starting again from Chabahil taking the route of Boudha Nath, Mitrapark and returning to Pharmacy. During the rally, we made sure to give out the awareness leaflets to every shop and every passer-by along the route we took thereby making them informed everything they need to know about Dengue.
